Dim Mak, (Traditional Chinese:c}, literally press artery , dinm), alternatively dinxu, more famously known as the Death Touch, is an attack on pressure points and meridians in some styles of Chinese martial arts used which is said to incapacitate or sometimes cause a delayed or even sudden death to an opponent. The points of attack used in Dim Mak correspond to the same locations as acupuncture points and other Chinese healing arts. Some believe that Dim Mak was started by the original creator of tai chi chuan, and according to legend influenced many Chinese martial arts. Its secrets were only passed along to close family members and trusted students, which make professional trainers of authentic Dim Mak nearly impossible to find since Dim Mak isn t an average martial arts training activity. General applications of pressure point leverage and other manipulations, called chin na in Chinese, are a common feature of most Chinese and Japanese martial arts, however.
A practitioner of Dim Mak is supposedly capable of inflicting serious harm to an individual by disrupting their chi or energy flow through the pressure points, causing injury or death. Some are skeptics to the effectiveness of a Dim Mak strike due to the lack of a proper scientific explanation.Old scientific explanations suggest that performing a Dim Mak strike is an attack on a vulnerable nerve linking to major internal organs within the nervous system. Attacking these points is supposed to disrupt normal body functions and resulting in the injury or death.
